Aruba Vacation Rentals & Beach Villas

Discovering the Advantages of Booking a Vacation Home

May 16th, 2013

Advantages of Booking InadvanceAruba – Travelers looking to plan their perfect summer vacations are inundated with travel options – from places to visit, to places to stay, to where to eat. How do travelers navigate the waters to determine the best options for them? Here, Aruba travel experts explain why visitors should rent a home when planning their next beach vacation to Aruba.

One of the most obvious advantages to booking a rental property is that travelers will be able to feel like they are at home. As opposed to a hotel, a rental home or condo will have all the accommodations travelers are used to in their own homes, such as kitchens, laundry facilities and sometimes even private pools. Travelers can enjoy exploring their exotic surroundings, but come back to a place that lets them settle in just as if they were home.

“We recommend that travelers rent a beach villa or other home if they are looking for more privacy and comfort,” says Matthew Smillie, owner of Aruba Villa Vacation Homes and a travel expert. “The options are almost endless, and there is sure to be something for every type of traveler in every price point. From romantic cottages for the honeymooning couple to a large villa for the family to a gated home on a golf course, the perfect home is out there.”

Renting a home also allows travelers to save money. Not only do rental homes tend to be less expensive than hotels, homes and condos will come equipped with kitchens. That means vacationers can save money by cooking their own meals rather than eating out every meal during their stay. And with companies like Aruba Villa Vacation Homes, travelers can even request to have their kitchens stocked with groceries upon their arrival.

Another great advantage to booking an Aruba beach house or condo during your next vacation is the added space a home affords. With a hotel room, visitors are confined to a small space. However with a home, visitors and their families have the ability to spread out. Vacation homes make traveling as a family or large group of friends much easier because while everyone has their own space, everyone will have the opportunity to be in one centralized location.

Rental villas also afford visitors more privacy than a hotel would. Travelers have the advantage of being the only residents in their rental, whereas during a hotel stay, vacationers can’t control the noise level of guests on either side of them. Renters can have a quiet and peaceful vacation, without being worried about being disturbed by cleaning crews or other guests. Many rental homes are even equipped with a private pool, which means guests will have the ability to enjoy the sun without being disrupted.

“Our renters know that during their stay, we are focused on their happiness,” says Smillie Aruba rental homes expert. “We offer personal services that many large hotels simply can’t offer. We can arrange to have your beach villa set up exactly as you want it upon your arrival, right down to a fully stocked pantry loaded with your family’s favorite foods. And someone from our staff is always on call, ensuring you can be helped with any issue that should arise as quickly as possible.”

Discover what savvy vacationers are learning – booking a vacation home can offer all the comforts of home, at an affordable price and with all the amenities and privacy you deserve.

Sampling the Local Flavor of Aruba

April 10th, 2013

Aruba Beach VillasAruba – One of the best parts about any vacation is sampling the local cuisine. And the island of Aruba has an abundance of great dining spots, ranging from those showing off the local flavors, to the creative and elegant. Chances are, no matter what you’re craving, you can find it at one of the many restaurants that dots the strip while you’re enjoying one of the island’s many beautiful villas for rent.

Traveling abroad gives visitors a chance to immerse themselves in a new culture, and food is an excellent way for travelers to learn more about the country or city they are visiting. Authentic Aruban cuisine marries together flavors from a few other cultures, Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish, English and native Aruban, to make a unique flavor that’s special to the island.

“Our beautiful island has great adventures waiting,” says Matthew Smillie, owner of Aruba Villa Vacation Homes, an Aruba beach villas rental company that can help visitors plan their perfect family, romantic or golf vacations. “Culinary adventures abound – from sampling our local flavors that include the freshest seafood such as mahi-mahi and wahoo, to French delicacies such as foie gras and frogs’ legs. Our brightest chefs on the island even offer delicious Middle Eastern, South American, Spanish, Asian and American menus. Chances are excellent that if you’re craving it, you’ll be able to find it expertly prepared at one of our many restaurants.”

While visitors are relishing one of the stunning beach rentals on the island, they can also enjoy restaurants that suit whatever mood they might be in. For visitors traveling with children, there are many wonderful locations that offer excellent family-friendly menus. Quaint and comfortable cafes abound in the local shopping district, making it easy to pop in for a delicious bite while out and about.

Traveling off the beaten path to discover hidden gems is also highly encouraged. Visitors will be pleasantly surprised to find trendy new restaurants with cutting-edge menus, as well as romantic ones with traditional menus. There truly is something for every taste-bud.

And for those who really want to sample true Aruban flavor, it doesn’t get any more authentic than the street food dotting the island. From roadside carts and stands at the local markets, travelers can sample local favorites such as iguana stew. Locals love stoba, a stew with goat meat; the polenta-like funchi; the delicious ayaka, a tamale stuffed with beef, capers and scallions; and keshi yena, Edam cheese stuffed with chicken, green olives and scotch bonnet peppers – a combination of Dutch and Caribbean flavors. Yucca chips and fried cactus are other common treats that can be found.

“When in doubt, ask the locals,” says Smillie. “Locals love to share their culture, and food is a big part of any community.”

Aruba Villa Vacation Homes, and other companies like it, take pride in helping visitors have the best travel experience possible. From finding the perfect rentals to helping visitors find the perfect restaurant, the local experts can make sure travelers soak up as much local flavor as possible.

The Best Ways to Explore Aruba

March 14th, 2013

Explore Aruba With Right AccommodationAruba – Traveling to a foreign country can often leave visitors wondering about the best way to get around during their stay. In Aruba, the options are limitless – from ATVs to public buses to rental cars, there’s an option for everyone.
“Discovering Aruba on your own is quick and easy – it just depends on what accommodation best suits your personality,” says Matthew Smillie, owner of Aruba Villa Vacation Homes. “If you’re renting one of our many beautiful beach villas, bus service to and from downtown is reliable, and best of all inexpensive.”
Daily bus service between all the districts and the hotel areas has a round trip fare of just over two dollars. The main bus station is in downtown Oranjestad, conveniently located just across from the waterfront shops and restaurants.
The largest bus operator is a government owned company called Arubus. They operate six lines that run 29 buses along the hotel and resort zone, making it easy for tourists who have decided to rent a villa to visit all the tourist hot spots. Other routes are also available to take passengers to other locations throughout the island. Buses typically run every 20 minutes from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and then every hour from 6 p.m. to midnight.
Many tourists choose to visit Aruba because of its beautiful weather. While you’re enjoying your vacation in this beautiful climate, consider touring the island by taking advantage of one of Arubas motorcycle rentals.
“Since the island is relatively small and roads are in good condition, touring by motorcycle or scooter is a great way to see the island’s unique topography and get the most out of the pleasant climate,” says Smillie, whose travel company can help tourists plan their perfect Aruba vacation – from finding the perfect front beach villas to rent to arranging transportation.
Tourists can rent a motorcycle or scooter for the day or for their whole vacation. On and off road adventures are plentiful and all tourists need is a valid driver’s license. Scooters typically rent for around $40 per day and motorcycles can be rented for $70 to $120 a day. Tourists can even go hog wild by renting a Harley for $150 per day.
For the adventurous tourist, renting a four-wheel drive Jeep or ATV will allow them to visit the rougher terrains that can’t be explored by car. Visitors can even arrange a Jeep Safari tour, where they will be one of up to 10 four-wheel drive vehicles on a guided tour of the island.
For visitors who want their own air conditioned vehicle and plan to stick to the well-paved roads, a rental car is the way to go. Cars can be rented at the airport, or if you’ve chosen to rent a place, you can arrange to have it waiting upon your arrival. The major car rental companies all honor valid U.S., British, Australian, and Canadian driver’s licenses. Arubans drive on the right side of the road and there is free parking throughout the island. It’s best to familiarize yourself with the island’s road signs before driving – the rental car company can provide a sheet detailing the signs.
If you’re planning to rent a car, here are some other things to note:
• The minimum age to rent a car is 21-25, but there is a maximum age of 65-70 as well. These ages vary slightly among rental companies.
• The renter must have held a valid driver’s license for at least two full years prior to renting a car.
• Many companies require a sizeable deposit, as much as $500, or an open signed credit card.
• Insurance is recommended.

According to Aruba Vacation Rentals, taxis are an additional option for visitors. All taxis in Aruba are non-metered, but have fixed rates. Each taxi will have a copy of the rate schedule. It can be difficult to hail a taxi from the street, however hotels and restaurants will be able to call a car for visitors. Tourists can also ask their taxi driver to return for them at a certain time.
No matter what your plans are while you’re in Aruba, getting around the island won’t be a problem. From reliable buses to friendly taxis to Harleys, options abound. Moreover , By the agency of Accommodation in Aruba everyone can have pleasant time in the city.

Aruba Beach Villa

Aruba – Aruba is a world-class vacation destination, known for beautiful beaches and a calm island way of life. But there’s much more to the island, and Matthew Smillie, owner of Aruba Villa Vacation Homes, wants to help you discover what you’re missing.

“Yes, Aruba has some of the most stunning beaches,” says Smillie, who provides accommodation in Aruba. “But this island also has amazing ecological sites, a beautiful butterfly farm, and a picturesque lighthouse, among other great destinations.”

  • California Point Lighthouse was named for the 100-year-old vessel, which wrecked and sits on the bottom of the ocean just offshore from the lighthouse. It offers beautiful views of the west coast of the island and the island’s beautiful beaches.
  • Arikok National Park, with its 20 miles of hiking trails, makes up about 20 percent of the entire island. It houses desert landscapes, giant lizards and Arawak Indian drawings. It boasts beautiful native flora and fauna, and park rangers are available throughout the park to lead tours.
  • Aruba Butterfly Farm is home to hundreds of gorgeous butterflies from all over the world. The 3,000 square foot garden has waterfalls and fish ponds, and guests are delighted when butterflies land silently on their shoulders.
  • National Archeological Museum traces the history of Aruba back to 2500 BC when the first inhabitants arrived from Central and South America. It’s housed in a plantation home built in 1870.
  • Bushiribana Gold Mine Ruins were the site of a mini gold rush in the 1800s. Three million pounds of ore were mined after gold was discovered in 1824. Visitors can tour the remains of the mine.
  • Aruba Aloe Vera Factory and Museum allows visitors to sample the island’s fresh aloe and learn the history of the Aruba aloe fields.
  • Oranjestad is the island’s capital city. It boasts Dutch colonial architecture, and is also the primary shopping area on the island.

“Aruba allows visitors to do and see so much,” says Smillie, whose Aruba villas rental company can help visitors plan their perfect getaway. “From jet skiing to scuba diving to snorkeling, our beaches provide opportunities for exciting adventures. Try kite-surfing, kayaking or take a tour on a catamaran. We can even schedule a tour on a private boat, led by your very own captain.”

And for visitors who are the land-loving type, the opportunities are limitless. Visitors enjoy bird watching, horseback riding, golf and tennis. Aruba is home to several museums showcasing the unique history of the island, and first-class restaurants abound.

No matter what type of vacation you’re planning, chances are Aruba has exactly what you’re looking for. Rent a villa on the beach or a home on one of the award-winning golf courses, and let Aruba take you away.

Booking Summer Travel Early – What You Should Know

January 20th, 2013

Aruba – Are you dreaming of sitting on a warm beach, even though you’re currently counting how many layers it will take to keep you warm? Make those dreams a reality by booking summer vacations now, says Aruba Vacation Rentals expert Matthew Smillie.

“The obvious advantage to booking travel early is being able to spread the cost of your travel over several months,” says Smillie, whose company, Aruba Villa Vacation Homes, offers luxury vacation rentals.

Industry experts agree that to get the best deals, travel should usually be booked about three months in advance.

Planning early allows you to take advantage of airlines’ early booking prices, and allows you to fly on the best travel days. It may sound cliché, but there really are better days to travel than others, according to industry experts. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays are typically the cheapest days to fly. And the best day and time to book your airfare is Tuesday around 3 p.m. Eastern time. Lower fare airlines announce their sale prices on Tuesday mornings, and by Tuesday afternoons, the other airlines have typically gotten around to matching, or trying to match, those lower prices. But don’t worry if you can’t book right then – sales are usually good for 72 hours.

Beginning your planning early also gives you time to monitor airfare pricing before purchasing. You can watch the trends, and at the first sign of low prices, purchase your tickets. You’ll be better able to recognize a good deal when you see it. If you wait too long, you won’t have the ability to shop around.

Early planning also gives you more time to discover the best options for accommodations in the area where you are traveling. Finding a Beach Villa in Aruba rather than a hotel may save you money. Homes give you the advantage of having a kitchen to cook meals, rather than having to eat out for every meal. Planning your summer travel now gives you plenty of time to investigate home rentals in the area you are traveling.

“Renting a vacation home can help you feel more relaxed while traveling,” says Smillie, whose company offers luxury Aruba accommodations. “Planning early allows you to choose the best location to stay at, then compare amenities, monitor pricing and be relaxed as you go into your vacation. People often spend so much time rushing around to make their travel plans; they enter their vacation already frazzled.”

Some early planning will also allow you time to consult with a travel agent. Even with the advantages Internet shopping affords us, travel agents are often still the best resource for getting the most out of a travel dollar, especially if you are planning a very detailed vacation. Travel agents make it their business to know all the ins and outs of travel – they’ll be aware of things like additional travel fees and they’ll pay attention to little things you may not think to look for, such as connecting flights. Travel options can sometimes be confusing, so let an expert help you navigate.

But perhaps the biggest benefit to planning and booking your family’s summer travel early is piece of mind.

Travel Tips on Getting Organized for Your Next Family Vacation

December 5th, 2012

ARUBA – The holidays will be behind us in a few weeks, so we say it’s time to hit the road. Now is the time to start planning your next exciting, enriching and relaxing family vacation.

“If you wait too long to start making plans, you’ll end up frazzled, frustrated and unorganized,” said Matthew Smillie, owner of Aruba Villa Vacation Homes, which offers Aruba vacation rental. “Take a stand in the new year and get your plans and your troops assembled.”

The Golf vacation in Aruba provider has put together the best and easiest tips to help families get organized for their next vacation:

Before you go
Keep everything relating to your vacation in a central location. This should include contracts, especially if you’re renting a vacation home, as well as passports, itineraries, ticket information, important contact numbers and a list of things you can’t forget to pack.

Before you board the plane
When packing for the family, try to keep in mind that less is more, said the accommodation professional. It’s recommended that you pack for each member of your family day-by-day. This reduces your chances of over-packing and more importantly, having to pay extra for an overweight bag.

Be cautious when packing toiletry items. One tube of toothpaste should suit the whole family; the same goes for shampoo and conditioner. Travel size items are usually best, but if you have a large family, a large bottle of each care item should be sufficient.

Food for thought
Some airlines don’t offer snacks, and if they do they cost a pretty penny. Be sure to pack snacks for your family, but be mindful of security regulations. Don’t forget about entertainment for the kids. This can be anything from a handheld DVD player to a coloring book.

Destination overload
Taking a vacation can be expensive in itself so work to cut costs wherever you can. Opt for a vacation rental, rather than a hotel. With all the perks of home in a villa, you can cook your own meals and save a lot of time and money. As for activities, take the road less traveled. Or if you have your heart set on an excursion, see if there are any discounts offered, such as a lower rate on a weekday rather than a weekend.

“When you plan ahead you save yourself and your wallet from a lot of pain and headaches,” the beach villas special offers provider said. “You will find yourself actually enjoying the vacation when you make a few lists and plan ahead.”

Amenities to Consider When Vacationing with Kids

November 15th, 2012

ARUBA – Taking your children on a trip to a historical city or on a beach houses in Aruba can be as exciting as it is challenging. With more parents recognizing the benefits of renting a vacation home, many property management companies are working to accommodate the little ones.

“Staying in a hotel with children is not easy because there is a lack of amenities,” said Matthew Smillie, owner of Aruba Villa Vacation Homes. “Aruba villas offer families a home away from home with more amenities than you will find in a hotel, and for less money.”

When planning your next family vacation, consider booking a villa that will entertain the kids and the parents.

Pool
Booking an Aruba vacation rental home with a well-maintained pool is a bonus for parents and kids. Parents have the luxury of keeping their eyes on their swimmers, and kids get to swim in a private pool instead of an overly crowded one.

Kitchen
This amenity is more for the adults than it is the kids. A full kitchen allows parents to control when and what their kids eat and they don’t have to worry about taking them out to eat for every meal. Some property management companies will even stock your pantry and fridge with all the items you will need for the week for an additional fee.

Grill
The whole family will enjoy this bonus, as they can all be together outside enjoying the Aruba weather and cooking a meal that requires little cleanup.

Cable TV and Wi-Fi
As the sun begins to set, it’s always nice to have access to TV and Internet to keep the kids and adults entertained.

Kid Gear
It is almost impossible to travel with everything your child will need for a week. Property management companies realize this and are happy to offer cribs, high chairs, strollers and play yards for parents to use during their stay. This way parents can focus on starting their vacation instead of worrying about the gear that didn’t make their flight.

Excursions for kids
While it would be nice for the kids to be entertained by only the pool at the villa, we all know they want to keep busy and explore new things, said Smillie. There are plenty of fun activities for kids to enjoy with everything from museum tours and snorkeling adventures to horseback riding on the beach and a butterfly garden.

The other perk of booking an Aruba villa is that many property management companies can assist you with booking excursions, providing you with a car to travel in and making dinner reservations, said Smillie.

“Staying in a villa during your family vacation is a great idea, no matter what age your kids are,” said Smillie. “You can control your budget by cooking at home and you can keep everyone entertained with all the luxuries of home.”

Tips for Renting a Villa in Aruba for the Holidays

November 13th, 2012

ARUBA – Renting a villa for the holidays is a great choice for people looking for peace and quiet and the freedom to come and go as you please with no set itineraries or meal times to adhere to.

Villas are great for families of all ages and also for large groups. They can be your home away from home with plenty of amenities to suit everyone. You can even save more if you share the cost of your villa rental with family and friends, after all the holidays are all about togetherness.

“Renting a villa during the holidays can be a relaxing and enjoyable experience, as long as you are prepared and aware of what’s ahead,” said Matthew Smillie, owner of Aruba beach villa services

Here are some villa renting tips to keep in mind:

  1. Book early. Don’t leave your vacation plans to the last minute, or you may limit your options. If you want the best selection and price, book at least a few weeks in advance.
  2. Look for a villa with a pool. When traveling with children, having your own private pool is wonderful, as you don’t have to fight the crowds and you always have an eye on your swimmers, Smillie said, provider of Aruba vacation rentals.
  3. Full kitchen. Having access to your own kitchen can save you money and allow you to cook your traditional holiday meals that your family looks forward to all year long.
  4. Know what you want to do. There are so many activities and excursions for all ages to enjoy that is advised you make a plan of what you would like to do. If you need assistance with booking, your property management company can help you with everything from tee times and restaurant reservations to snorkeling tours and horseback riding adventures.

“Spending the holidays in Aruba can be just what you and your family need,” said Smillie, broker of villas in Aruba. “Keep these tips in mind to ensure that the villa you rent is one that suits your family best.”

How to Safely Travel with Children This Holiday Season

October 15th, 2012

ARUBA – The holiday season is just around the corner and if you’re one of the millions of families who are daring to travel, there are some important safety rules your family should implement before jetting off.

“Traveling with children, whether to the mall or across the country, can present many challenges for parents,” said Matthew Smillie, owner of Aruba Villa Vacation Homes, which specializes in villas for rent. “It is more important than ever to have a safety plan in place before embarking on your adventure, as you will be among millions of other travelers who are trying to reach their destination.”

  1. Be practical
Keep your family members in mind when booking flights and excursions. Families with small children should work to book their flights around nap times. The best adventures for families are ones that suit the age groups you are traveling with – a toddler is not likely to enjoy a 10-mile hike around the island.
  2. Implement a safety plan and practice it
Have a plan in place for the most common family travel blunders: a lost family member, being separated or injured. Give each family member a job and practice it at home – even toddlers can learn how to look for someone official to help them if they become separated.
  3. Take photos before leaving the home
If your child becomes separated from you, the first thing you are asked to do is describe what your child looks like and what they are wearing. Take a photo every day before venturing out, says Smillie, Aruba accommodation provider. This way, you always have a current photo on hand.
  4. Establish a meeting place
As soon as you arrive at a new location, establish a meeting place to go to in case someone is lost or separated. This should be in a central location that is easily visible and accessible by all members of the family. If the child is too young to navigate on their own, mark the location on a guide map and have them keep it with them so they can enlist the help of an official.
  5. Stay in comfort
Aruba beach villas are ideal accommodations for families of all sizes and are great for privacy. You don’t have to worry about neighbors waking your kids up during nap time and with a kitchen inside most beach rentals, you don’t have to take the kids out for meals. Most property management companies also have cribs, strollers and high chairs available, which is one less thing you have to travel with.

“Traveling with children can be as difficult as it is fun,” said the Aruba rentals professional. “By having a plan in place and keeping all family members in mind, traveling can be less stressful and maybe even enjoyable.”

Seven Reasons Why Your Family Should Travel Abroad

September 18th, 2012

ARUBA – Whether you are alone or with family, traveling can be one of the great joys in life. You will get to experience new things, new people and new places. While today’s economy may drive people to participate in staycations, traveling aboard brings with it a whole new world.

“Sometimes the reasons we want to travel are outweighed by the cost,” said Matthew Smillie, owner of Aruba Villa Vacation Homes, a company that offers Aruba vacation rentals. “However, experiencing other parts of the world is worth more than any plane ticket.”

The Aruba beach villas professional has put together a list of reasons why you should consider traveling abroad this year:

  1. It can be less expensive. While the plane ticket to your new destination may seem like a large portion of your budget, in other areas of the world the exchange rate can be in your favor.
  2. Meet new people. When you travel you get to meet people of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds and personalities. On the island of Aruba, you will find our famously hospitable locals provide you with service full of smiles all year long.
  3. Learn a new language. While the island of Aruba speaks mainly Dutch and English, the native language is Papiamento, which is a combination of Portuguese, English and Dutch. So even though learning the language isn’t necessary, it’s a great way to exercise your brain and have a little fun with the locals.
  4. Create memories for a lifetime. Traveling gives you experiences you wouldn’t have without getting on a plane. You will reflect on the times you spent abroad, and while no other vacation may compare, you will have better stories than those who stick to Disney World and the like.
  5. New cuisine. Sure your local Cuban café and Thai eatery serve authentic cuisine, but nothing compares to being immersed in the environment of the foods. Locals put a lot of passion in their food and being able to eat off the land of your travel destination is a one-of-a-kind experience.
  6. Perfect weather. In the islands of the Caribbean, sunshine is almost guaranteed year-round. Whether you visit in December or July, your vacation will be filled with sunny skies and comforting sea breezes.
  7. Activities for the whole family. With crystal clear water and powder white sand, excursions in the Caribbean are unbeatable, believes Smillie, provider of Villa rentals in Aruba. You can try everything from snorkeling and scuba diving to horseback riding, golfing and catamaran tours.

“It’s hard for people to find a reason not to travel outside of their hometown, but with so much to do and gain from jumping on a plane, international travel has never made so much sense,” the Aruba golf vacation provider.
